Privacy

Public beta legal notice. Effective July 3, 2026.

CabinKept is built by Apps 4 That LLC (Indiana, USA). The short version: your cabin lives on your device.

On-device first

The cabin name, roster, stays, holiday tags, expenses, payments, checklists, badges, duties, and document pointers are stored in your browser's local storage on the device you use. CabinKept has no family accounts and no server-side cabin database in this preview. Clearing your browser data deletes your cabin; we cannot recover it, because we never had it.

Member names you enter are visible only on your device. We suggest first names — the app never asks for members' emails, phone numbers, addresses, or payment details.

The ledger never touches money

The ledger is a tracker only. It records expenses you say happened, computes splits on numbers you type, and suggests settle-up transfers. It never holds, collects, custodies, transfers, or pays out money; it is not connected to any payment network or processor. Marking a payment "recorded" changes a row on your device — nothing more. How your family actually moves its money is entirely between the members of your family.

Documents stay where they are

The document feature stores pointers you type — "deed: safe-deposit box at First National" — never the documents themselves. No uploads, no scans, no copies.

What does touch the network

  • The optional AI Cabin Counselor. If you ask it a question, your question text (plus the retrieved knowledge cards used for grounding) is sent to our serverless endpoint and on to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the answer. We do not send your roster, calendar, ledger, or document pointers. The free on-device counselor never makes a network call.
  • Checkout. If you buy a plan, payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's pages. We never see card numbers.
  • Fonts. Pages load two typefaces from Google Fonts, which sees standard request metadata (like your IP address) when fonts load.
  • Hosting. The site is served by Vercel, which processes standard server logs (IP, user agent) to deliver pages.
  • The optional email signup. If you use it, your email and interest tags are sent to our endpoint and email service provider — see the section below. It's the only feature that ever transmits anything you typed for marketing, and only when you opt in.

If you ask us to email you (optional)

DRAFT — pending privacy-counsel review before launch.

CabinKept has an optional email list. If — and only if — you type your email and tick the consent box on a "send me the season calendar / checklist" card, we collect your email address, a couple of non-sensitive interest tags (for example "co-owned property" and "family cabin"), and how you arrived (the marketing link you clicked). That is the entire payload.

We never put your family's data in that email signup. No ledger, no dollar amounts, no member names, no stay dates, no document pointers — those never leave your device. The interest tags describe the kind of app you use, never your cabin's contents.

  • Two separate consents, both off by default. One box is for CabinKept updates; a second, independent box is for occasional news about other Apps 4 That apps. We record which you agreed to and when. Nothing is pre-checked.
  • Cross-product sharing (only with your consent). Apps 4 That LLC makes several apps. If you tick the second box, your email and interest tags may be used to tell you about our other apps, and a device-local identifier lets our apps recognize you as the same person so we don't email you twice about the same thing. This never includes any app's private contents. Leave the box unticked and none of this happens.
  • One-click unsubscribe on every message. Ask us to delete your email and we will.
  • Where the list is stored today. Until our email service provider is live, a submitted signup is recorded as a private issue in a restricted GitHub repository controlled by Apps 4 That LLC (GitHub, Inc. processes it as our hosting provider). Only your email, the interest tags, and how you arrived are stored there — never any of your family's cabin data.
  • Email processor. Sending is (or will be) handled by a third-party email service provider; we will name it here before the list goes live. [Processor TBD — counsel + CFO gate.]

For the full cross-app picture — how Apps 4 That LLC handles the optional audience list across its apps — see our unified privacy & audience policy (DRAFT — pending counsel review).

What we don't do

  • No advertising, no ad trackers, no third-party cookies, and no cross-site tracking pixels. We use Plausible Analytics for aggregate, cookie-free page and event counts only.
  • No sale or sharing of personal information — the optional email list above is opt-in and used only as described.
  • No family accounts, no contact lists, no location access, no camera or microphone.

Children

CabinKept is for adult co-owners and organizers and is not directed to children under 13.
